Terms of Service
The rules for using this website and for the free consultation, plus the rights the law gives you before you sign anything.
These terms are not your service agreement. If you decide to work with us, you will receive a separate written contract, along with the disclosures federal and Texas law require, before any work begins and before you pay anything. That contract governs the services. This page governs the website and the free consultation.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Carlos Catala DBA Houston Credit Builders.com, trading as Houston Credit Builders, of 12430 Grant Rd, Ste D, Cypress, TX 77429-7911. We are a credit services organization registered with the Texas Secretary of State under Texas Finance Code Chapter 393 and bonded as that chapter requires.
2. What these terms cover
These terms apply when you browse this website, submit the consultation form, or take part in a free consultation with us. By doing any of those things, you agree to them.
They do not cover the services themselves. Those are covered by a separate signed agreement described in section 6.
3. The free consultation
- The consultation is free. There is no cost, and no obligation to buy anything afterwards.
- We will not ask you for payment or for payment details during the consultation.
- It is a conversation about your situation, not a formal credit analysis, and nothing said on it is legal, tax, or financial advice.
- Requesting a consultation does not create a client relationship. That begins only when you sign the written agreement.
- We may decline to take someone on, and we will tell you plainly if we do not think we can help. If doing it yourself is the better route for you, we will say so.
4. Your rights under federal and Texas law
These rights are yours whatever any contract says, and nothing on this website or in any agreement with us can take them away.
- You can do this yourself, for free. You have the right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report yourself, at no cost, by contacting the credit bureaus directly. You do not need us or anyone else to do it for you.
- You get the disclosures before you sign. Before you sign any contract with us, we must give you a separate written statement of your credit file rights under state and federal law, and a written information statement required by Texas law. You get these before you sign and before any money changes hands.
- You can cancel. You have the right to cancel your contract with us without penalty or obligation within three business days of signing it, for any reason. Cancellation must be in writing: email it to or mail it to the address in section 16. You will receive a cancellation form with your contract.
- You do not pay before the work is done. We may not charge or receive payment for credit repair services until those services have been performed.
- You cannot sign your rights away. Any waiver of your rights under the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act is void and unenforceable, including if we ask you for one.
- You can sue. If we violate the Credit Repair Organizations Act, you may have the right to sue us in federal or state court.
This is a plain-English summary, not the full legal disclosure. The full statement of your rights is one of the documents you receive before signing.
5. What we do not promise
- We do not guarantee any specific credit score increase, and we cannot. Anyone who does is not being straight with you.
- We do not promise that any particular item will be removed from your report, or that it will be removed by any particular date.
- We cannot remove accurate, current information from a credit report, and neither can anyone else.
- We do not guarantee that you will be approved for any loan, card, rate, or other credit.
- Timelines depend on how the credit bureaus and furnishers respond, which is outside our control.
What we do promise is honest work, a clear plan, and a straight answer about where you stand.
6. The written service agreement
Services beyond the free consultation are provided only under a written agreement that you sign. Before you sign it you will receive, in writing:
- The services we will perform, and an estimate of how long they will take
- The total amount you will pay. For credit repair that is a one-time $110 onboarding fee plus $200 a month for the length of your term, which is 6 to 8 months and set in your agreement: $1,310 for a 6-month term, up to $1,710 for 8 months
- The length of your term, and what happens if you end the agreement after the three-day cancellation period. Notice of cancellation after that period must be in writing and reach us at least 30 business days before your next billing date
- Your cancellation rights, set out in the contract, together with a cancellation form
- The statement of your credit file rights under state and federal law
- The information statement required by Texas Finance Code Chapter 393
Where anything on this website differs from your signed agreement, the signed agreement controls.
7. Pricing on this site
Any prices shown on this website are indicative and describe our standard service tiers. They are not an offer, and they do not include anything specific to your situation. The price that applies to you is the one stated in your written agreement, and we will walk you through it before you sign.
Credit repair carries a one-time $110 onboarding fee in addition to the monthly price.
8. How we contact you
When you submit the consultation form you give us your contact details so that we can reply. If you provide a phone number and tick the consent box, you agree that we may call or text you about your enquiry, including using automated technology where applicable.
- Consent is not a condition of buying anything from us.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- You can opt out at any time: tell us on a call, reply STOP to a text, or email .
How we handle what you send us is set out in our Privacy Policy.
9. What we need from you
- Give us accurate information. We can only work from what you tell us.
- Do not submit the form on behalf of someone else without their permission.
- Do not send us account numbers, your Social Security number, or your date of birth through the website form.
- Do not use this website to break the law, or to try to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to our systems.
- You must be at least 18 to use this site or our services.
10. Website content and accuracy
The educational material on this site is general information, not advice about your situation. Credit rules and practices change, and pages may not always be current. Do not rely on anything here as a substitute for advice about your own circumstances.
Any client stories or testimonials on this site describe the experience of the individual telling them. They are not typical results, and they are not a promise of what will happen for you.
This site may link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
11. Our content
The text, design, images, and other material on this site belong to us or to our licensors. You may read, print, and share pages for your own personal use. You may not republish, sell, or reuse the material commercially without our written permission.
12. Liability
This website is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of this website.
Nothing in this section limits or excludes anything that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. In particular, nothing here waives, limits, or affects your rights under the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act or Texas Finance Code Chapter 393, or our obligations under them. Any provision that purported to do so would be void, and would not affect the rest of these terms.
13. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, tell us first and we will try to put it right. Email , or write to us at the address in section 16.
You can also raise a complaint about a credit services organization with any of the following, and you do not have to come to us first:
- Office of the Texas Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
- Federal Trade Commission
Our surety bond is filed with the Texas Secretary of State under Chapter 393. Details of the bond are available from that office.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes arising from them belong in the state or federal courts serving Harris County, Texas. This does not affect any right you have to bring a claim under federal law where federal law provides for it.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page tells you when they last changed. Changes apply from the date they are posted, and they do not change any agreement you have already signed.
